Catering FAQs
What types of events does Liehs & Steigerwald cater?
We cater all types of events. Graduation parties, weddings, family reunions, corporate lunches, and more – we have done them all! We are happy to cater any event big or small.
What are your days of operation?
Liehs and Steigerwald Catering is available Tuesday through Sunday. There may be an added surcharge for catering on holidays when our store is closed.
How do I get a quote for my event?
Call us at 315-474-2171. Or email us at catering@liehsandsteigerwald.com. Our catering staff is available to talk to you Tuesday through Saturday 9am-5pm. Once we discuss your event and gather all necessary information, we will be happy to provide you with a quote for your event.
Is there a minimum charge for a catering order?
There is no minimum for pick up or drop-off orders. Staffed events require an invoice total of $1,250 in food/beverage purchase (excludes taxes, delivery fee, and setup fee). If food and beverage costs do not total the required minimum, the $1,250 will be charged.
Is a deposit required to book an event and when is final payment due?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking for all catering orders of $300 or more. Full payment is due 3 days prior to your event for all delivery orders, all staffed events, and all pick-up orders $300 and over. Pick-up orders under $300 may pay at pick-up.
Do you provide plates and cutlery? What about party rentals such as china, flatware, and glassware?
Disposable cutlery, plates, and napkins will be included at your request. We do not offer other party rentals.
Do you provide chafing dishes for hot food?
Disposable chafing dishes are available for purchase. Each chafing dish comes with gel/liquid fuel cups that last a minimum of 2 hours. Additional fuel cups can be purchased.
Is there a delivery fee?
A delivery fee of $20 will be charged for delivery within 15 miles from our Grant Boulevard location. For events that are further away, we may charge a travel/mileage fee to cover labor, utilities, and fuel.
Will you set up the food for my event?
We offer set-up service for catered events. This service starts at $30 and may increase based on the complexity of the set up.
Do you provide wait staff?
While most events do not require staffing, we can provide buffet service wait staff for a fee.
When do I need to provide a final head count?
Final guest count is due 10 days prior to your event. After that, we may be able to accommodate increases, but will not be able to accommodate decreases.
What is your cancellation policy? Is my deposit refundable?
Your deposit is non-refundable. Additionally, if you cancel within 48 hours of your event, Liehs and Steigerwald will retain the full invoice payment.
What time will you arrive? How long is the service window?
For drop-off and/or set-up only events, we will arrive within a 15-minute window of your requested delivery time. For staffed events, we will arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of your event to set up and will remain on site at least 30 minutes after service to clean up. A 2-hour service window is included with your staffed catering event. This time may be adjusted based on guest counts. You may also purchase additional service time for an added cost.
How far in advance should I book my event?
We book events on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to book your event as early as possible. In most cases, we ask that you book at least 2 weeks prior to your event. Contact us today so we can book your date.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit cards, and personal checks (made payable to Liehs & Steigerwald). There is a $50 fee for any returned/bounced checks. Please note, a 3.5% surcharge will be applied for all credit card payments.
Is sales tax included?
No. 8% sales tax will be charged.
Is gratuity included?
We do not charge a set amount for gratuity. Our team does appreciate tips and people often choose to tip when they feel we provide excellent service. Gratuity is entirely up to your discretion and can be added on to your final credit card charge or you can offer cash to our staff.
